Rainforest Trust–Supported Forest Restoration in Bukit Tigapuluh

This project supports the protection and restoration of critical lowland rainforest within the Bukit Tigapuluh landscape through a partnership between PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh (ABT) and Rainforest Trust. It focuses on restoring degraded forest areas and strengthening protection of key habitats for critically endangered species such as Sumatran tigers, elephants, and orangutans. The project matters because Bukit Tigapuluh is one of the last remaining intact lowland forest ecosystems in central Sumatra. Restoring and safeguarding this landscape is essential to conserve biodiversity, maintain carbon stocks, secure ecosystem services, and ensure long-term ecological resilience.
