Supporting Orangutan Conservation through Ecosystem Restoration in ABT (FY25) - US Orangutan 2024

PROJECT
in progress
Description
This project supports orangutan conservation in the PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh (ABT) landscape by restoring and protecting critical forest habitat within the ecosystem restoration concession. Restoration activities improve forest structure, food availability, and connectivity needed to support existing and reintroduced orangutan populations. The project matters because Bukit Tigapuluh is one of the last strongholds for orangutans in central Sumatra, and habitat degradation threatens their long-term survival. By strengthening forest integrity and ecological connectivity, the project contributes to biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and the sustainability of a key landscape for endangered species.
