Description
Elephant Agroforestry Resilient is a sustainable landscape management model designed to strengthen ecosystem resilience while safeguarding elephant survival and improving community well-being. The model integrates elephant-friendly agroforestry systems, habitat conservation, and sustainable economic values within a single, adaptive landscape framework that responds to climate change and increasing environmental pressures.
This approach organizes land-use and planting patterns by prioritizing elephant-resistant commodities, natural buffer vegetation, and dedicated forage plants and movement corridors for elephants. In doing so, Elephant Agroforestry Resilient functions as an effective buffer zone that reduces human–elephant conflict, maintains habitat connectivity, and enhances overall ecosystem carrying capacity.
Beyond ecological outcomes, the model reinforces social and economic resilience by promoting livelihood diversification, encouraging green investment, and strengthening local knowledge and cultural practices in natural resource management—positioning people and wildlife to coexist sustainably within shared landscapes.
