Elephant Protection and ELOC in PT ABT
PROJECT
in progress
Description
This project aims to enhance elephant habitat quality through active forest restoration and habitat assessment, with a focus on Block 1. Key activities include planting and maintaining native forest tree species to improve habitat structure, food availability, and ecological conditions for elephants, alongside surveys of forest resources within elephant ranges. The project matters because habitat degradation is a major driver of human–elephant conflict and population decline. By restoring forest quality and involving local and Indigenous communities in implementation, the project supports biodiversity conservation, strengthens local stewardship, and promotes long-term coexistence between people and elephants.
