Community Empowerment to Conserve Biodiversity
PROJECT
ready
Description
The project secures critical habitat for the endangered Bornean orangutan and other wildlife within the Arabela landscape, aligned with West Kalimantan Provincial (KSP) and Melawi District (KSK) strategic area frameworks. Responding to increasing development pressures, it strengthens habitat protection, ecological connectivity, and wildlife corridors potentially linking to Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park. Key interventions include ecosystem restoration, community-based land management, and sustainable livelihood development to reduce habitat pressure. The project supports spatial planning, deforestation prevention, and climate resilience, while continuous monitoring informs evidence-based decisions. Support from the RELEX Foundation strengthens long-term habitat protection and community stewardship.
