Description
The Faith-based Sumatran Tiger Conservation and Habitat Restoration Project engages faith communities in the Rimbang Baling–Betabuh and Batang Hari landscape to restore critical tiger habitat. The project responds to forest degradation and habitat fragmentation that threaten the Critically Endangered Sumatran tiger. Restoration will focus on degraded community forests and faith-owned lands using native tree species that improve forest structure, support wildlife, and enhance ecosystem services. Through a pilot on 20 hectares involving LPHN and pesantren, the project builds local capacity, promotes faith-based environmental stewardship, and demonstrates a scalable model that integrates biodiversity conservation with social empowerment and long-term landscape restoration.
